Jakarta (ANTARA) – Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said the Garuda Indonesia Travel Fair (GATF) Hybrid 2021, jointly organized by state bank BNI and national airline Garuda Indonesia, would stimulate the recovery of the tourism industry.

The event was to encourage worker absorption, Uno said in a statement on Sunday.

“We will continue to support the positive initiatives initiated by Garuda Indonesia and BNI to encourage the recovery of domestic tourism. Of course, the event will help the recovery of the tourism sector and the absorption of workers,” he said. points out.

The minister said Indonesia is among five countries with high level security to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Local tourism operators have improved their services and obtained the Certificate of Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE).

“We hope this will improve public confidence in tourism. But it must surely be balanced with the implementation of health protocols in all aspects of the tourism sector,” he added.

BNI Senior Vice President Adi Sulistyowati said the GATF is a proactive initiative by BNI and Garuda to improve public confidence amid the pandemic.

“This synergy should revive the tourism industry, hence the recovery of the national economy,” she added.
