Tata Motors to provide eco-friendly public transport solutions to smart cities in Jammu and Kashmir Wins order for 200 electric buses to be operated in Jammu and Srinagar

Jammu, 19 years olde OCTOBER 2022 (GPN): Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, today announced that it has won the tender for 200 electric buses, launched by Jammu Smart City Limited, for Jammu and Srinagar. Tata Motors has entered into a strategic collaboration for the deployment of electric buses in the twin capitals of Jammu and Kashmir. The collaboration is part of an initiative by the Department of Housing and Urban Development of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to establish an environmentally, socially and financially sustainable public transport network for Jammu and Srinagar.
150 units of 9-meter Starbus electric buses and 50 units of 12-meter electric buses will be provided under the Government of Jammu and Kashmir’s initiative for environment-friendly public transport. Under the contract, Tata Motors will supply, operate and maintain the Tata Starbus electric buses for a period of 12 years.
Commenting on the ad, Sri. As of 2019, Tata Motors’ 40 electric buses have been operating in Jammu and Kashmir, along with a cumulative supply of 715 electric buses in several cities across India, which have collectively traveled over 40 million kilometres, with availability over 95%. Under a tender launched by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), Tata Motors has already received orders for 1,500 electric buses from Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), 1,180 electric buses from West Bengal Transport Corporation ( WBTC) and 921 electric buses from Bengaluru.
