PM launches Keluarga Malaysia Pass and encourages public to use public transport

KUALA LUMPUR (November 22): The introduction of the Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian family) pass by Prasarana Malaysia Bhd is expected to encourage the public to use public transport for leisure or to visit the various tourist attractions in the Klang Valley.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that at a price of just RM15, the travel pass allows four people in a group to enjoy unlimited one-day trips on the bus and train services owned by Prasarana on Saturday, Sunday or any other holiday at a price of RM15.

Services include Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Monorail and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).

“This means that each person in the party of four will only have to pay RM 3.75 to use the rail and bus services operated by Rapid KL all day.

“This initiative aims to encourage Malaysian families to go out and spend quality time with their loved ones, either to go to shopping malls or simply to visit the many tourist attractions along the public transport network in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, ”he said at the launch. the pass here on Monday (November 22).

Ismail Sabri also said that convenient, efficient and interconnected public transport is vital for Keluarga Malaysia’s mobility.

“Public transport is no exception to the rule in playing an important role in the success of Keluarga Malaysia, because in addition to being a tool for national unity, it also stimulates economic growth,” he said. declared.

At the same time, the Prime Minister also announced the public transport program for owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which will be implemented by Prasarana’s subsidiary, Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd (PRIDE) from March of next year, which will allow SME owners to do business at eight LRT Stations along the Kelana Jaya LRT line.

Stations can be found at Subang Alam, Alam Sutera, Putra Heights, Puchong Industrial Park, Awan Besar, IOI Puchong Jaya, Plaza Rakyat and SS18.

“As part of the package, 20 retail spaces, each measuring 80 to 400 square feet, will be offered to SME owners by random draw,” he said.

Ismail Sabri said successful applicants will also benefit from a special rental structure for one year, including a three-month rental exemption. Details will be announced by PRIDE soon.

“I also want to take this opportunity to encourage SME owners to participate and help stimulate the local economy to bring prosperity and benefits to all members of the Malaysian family,” he said.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Prasarana for launching various initiatives to help small entrepreneurs increase their sales during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said this includes using their media platforms to promote food-based SME products along the Rapid KL train and bus lines, as well as at stations and hubs.
