Lorca strengthened its urban public transport service with two new minibuses intended to improve both the mobility of city dwellers and the fleet itself.

The move is part of the council’s and transport company Limusa’s strategy to modernize efficiency and sustainability and, in addition to increasing travel options to outlying areas, will strengthen the main lines that operate in the center -town.

The vehicles were unveiled by Lorca Mayor Diego José Mateos and other council representatives on Thursday, October 20.

“Today we announce good news for the improvement of public transport in Lorca with the addition of two vehicles, the modernization of the fleet we have and the considerable improvement in service,” he said. .

The buses have a capacity of 29 passengers, 12 standing, with wheelchair accessibility, and both are equipped with LED information panels and USB type A connectivity next to the seats to allow connection electronic devices while travelling.

“They are sustainable buses, because in Lorca we are committed to this type of transport, improving the energy efficiency of the previous ones, which have all the amenities that guarantee accessibility for people with reduced mobility thanks to an access ramp In addition to more efficient motors, the LED displays will increase the availability of information for all users, improving their safety as well as that of the drivers,” added the mayor.

Lorca’s bus fleet consists of five vehicles; three large and two small. One of the larger buses has already been replaced with a new hybrid, and the other two will be swapped out in the first quarter of 2023. Next-generation funding will also fund logistical improvements and other public transport.
