Global travel and tourism industry unites in support of Ukraine

From hotel rooms for refugees to lifesaving supplies, WTTC members are showing their support for Ukraine

LONDON, April 13, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Travel and tourism companies around the world have come together to support Ukraine with millions of hotel rooms for refugees fleeing conflict according to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

WTTC members such as Accor, Airbnb, Carnival Corporation, European Travel Commission, Expedia, Hilton, InterContinental Hotels Group, Internova Travel Group, Marriott International, MSC Cruises, Radisson and Uber to name a few, opened their doors to refugees in neighboring countries, donating rooms, transportation, clothing, food, shelter, emergency supplies and financial contributions.

In Ukrainehotels remained open, providing a base for charities, journalists and people stranded by the conflict.

Companies across the global travel and tourism sector, including airports, airlines, cruise lines and tour operators are going to extraordinary lengths to help alleviate the suffering of those affected.

This invasion caused the largest population displacement in Europe since World War II.

In addition to providing needed emergency accommodations, businesses large and small have donated millions of dollars to disaster relief funds that have been supplemented by individual fundraising initiatives.

Many companies worldwide have generously matched the contributions of their employees to support charities providing aid in emergency aid and essential supplies.

The temporary accommodation was arranged thanks to generous Travel and Tourism employees opening their homes to provide emergency shelter and came up with Airbnb creative solutions to get money into the hands of local people.

Much-needed medical and hospital supplies were also provided by corporate donations through various charities around the world.
