Free public transport for racing fans before the VALO Adelaide 500 • Glam Adelaide

Spectators at the VALO Adelaide 500 event are in pole position as the state government offers free public transport to ticket holders to celebrate the return of the world-class motorsport event to the city.

Australia’s biggest domestic motorsport event comes to life on Adelaide’s 2-mile street circuit for the first time since 2020, with fans enjoying a free ride to the Supercars race from December 1-4 .

VALO Adelaide 500 ticket holders are entitled to free travel on all Adelaide Metro bus, rail and tram services during the four days of the event. People aged 12 and under enjoy free entry to the track and will not need to show their ticket.

Additional bus, train and tram services will operate throughout the event to run for the 23rd weather in Adelaide. Dedicated O Bahn shuttles and an event shuttle will also run frequently during the VALO Adelaide 500.

The event shuttle will operate from approximately 09:00 to 23:00 each day, serving a route including key gates around the circuit and then a loop to Adelaide Station.

Additional bus and tram services will also operate each evening for the post-race concert series to cater for increased crowds.

The free public transport follows the decision to reduce ticket prices to levels not seen 10 years ago, leading to strong ticket sales ahead of the event.

The race injected nearly $46 million into the South African economy in 2019 and created 435 full-time jobs. It attracted over 15,000 interstate and overseas visitors.

Treasurer Stephen Mullighan said: “This is an iconic race that boosts visitors, jobs and the economy. We want to make participation as easy and affordable as possible – we have already reduced ticket prices for 10 years, and free public transport is another great incentive.

“The event shuttle service will make it even easier for fans to get around and enjoy all the action of the world’s best touring car race.

“I can’t wait to see South Australians embrace the VALO Adelaide 500, which is just seven weeks away,” Mullighan said.

The VALO Adelaide 500 free travel on public transport for ticket holders and additional services is supported by SA Motor Sport Board and the State Government.
