SRINAGAR, October 5: The Chairman of the Board of Directors of J&K Waqf, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (JKUT), Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi today met with the Home Minister of the Visiting Union, Amit Shah, at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar and discussed many issues relating to the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
During his meeting with the Minister of Interior, Dr Andrabi presented the reform measures taken by the Waqf Council in J&K, which were applauded by the Minister of Interior. He assured Dr. Andrabi of all necessary help from the government to streamline the system and expand the Sufi shrines in J&K UT.
Darakhshan also discussed the roadmap to increase revenue from Waqf properties and turn them into productive units by freeing them from the illegal control of “certain people”. The policy of converting Waqf assets into productive units for public welfare was highly appreciated by Amit Shah and he provided full assistance to the J&K Waqf Council of the Union Government.
