Agreement on collective efforts to promote tourism in the walled city

LAHORE – The Lahore Walled City Authority (WCLA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Faculty of Media and Communication Studies (FMCS) of the University of Central Punjab (UCP). According to a press release issued here on Friday, the Memorandum of Understanding sets out the terms of the agreement between FMCS and WCLA to cooperate in the fields of communication, media and tourism in the walled city of Lahore. The objectives of the memorandum of understanding between the two include raising awareness of tourism in the walled city through different modes of communication, helping students with academic activities and exchanging communication expertise. In this regard, WCLA and FMCS will work mutually to create documentaries on various topics related to culture, heritage and monuments. University students will be taken to different sites in the walled city for their projects which will be made public by WCLA. FMCS students will also contribute to WCLA public relations campaigns and prepare heritage documentaries as part of their final year projects. WCLA chief executive Kamran Lashari said students are the most important part of society. “We welcome this young group to WCLA for working with us on our projects. This way we will have new ideas and on the other hand the students will get closer to their heritage and culture. it is high time for students to enroll in the heritage and culture so that they get closer to their roots.
